Her mother was an excellent pianist and outstanding piano teacher, her father a renowned violinist. She chose the cello as her instrument and studied with William Pleeth in London, among others. Even during this time, Kristin von der Goltz performed as a soloist, including with the London Philharmonic Orchestra and the Hannover Band. From 1991 to 2004 she was a leading member of the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra, before joining the Berlin Baroque Soloists in 2006.<\/p>\n<p>Kristin von der Goltz performs on both modern and baroque cello, and her partners include Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Ton Koopman, and Marc Minkowski. In 2004, she released her first solo CD with sonatas by the widely unknown composer Jakob Klein, which was highly praised by critics. Kristin von der Goltz has also made an international name for herself as a teacher.
